President Donald Trump has announced the dismissal of Pam Bondi from her role as Attorney General of the United States, a decision communicated via his social media platform, Truth Social.
In his statement, Trump indicated that Bondi would transition to a “very needed and important new position in the private sector,” with further details to be disclosed soon. He expressed gratitude for her contributions, particularly noting a significant decrease in crime rates, which he attributed to her efforts.
Following Bondi’s departure, Todd Blanche, her current deputy, will assume the responsibilities of acting Attorney General.
Reports from CNN suggest that Trump’s decision to terminate Bondi was influenced by dissatisfaction regarding her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case, which has drawn significant public scrutiny. Sources indicate that internal criticism from Trump’s supporters regarding the administration’s approach to the Epstein allegations contributed to this decision.
Additionally, Trump reportedly believed that Bondi had not sufficiently investigated the activities of his political opponents, further fueling his discontent with her performance.
Bondi was appointed to the position of Attorney General shortly after Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election.
