Trump Claims U.S. Military Objectives in Iran Achieved Ahead of Schedule

U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that the United States has effectively removed Iran from the geopolitical landscape and met its military objectives ahead of schedule. This statement was made via his social media platform, Truth Social.

In his post, Trump criticized New York Times journalist David Sanger, who had expressed skepticism regarding the outcomes of American military operations. Trump stated, “The United States has erased Iran from the map, yet their incompetent analyst David Sanger claims I have not achieved my goals. I have achieved them—several weeks ahead of schedule! Their leadership is destroyed, their navy and air force are shattered, they have absolutely no defense, and they want a deal. I do not! We are ahead of schedule by several weeks. Like their incompetent coverage of the elections regarding me, the degrading New York Times is always wrong!”

David E. Sanger is a prominent American journalist and national security expert at The New York Times. He has served as a White House correspondent and has extensive experience covering national security issues.

Sanger has access to high-level sources in Washington and focuses on topics such as nuclear programs (including those of Iran and North Korea), cybersecurity, and U.S. geopolitics. He is also the author of several books on cyber warfare, including the operation against Iranian centrifuges known as Stuxnet, and U.S. policy toward China, Iran, and Russia.

His articles often critique U.S. claims of “complete success,” arguing that while the Iranian nuclear program can be slowed, it cannot be entirely eradicated, and that military strikes provide only temporary effects rather than strategic solutions.

In related developments, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated in an interview with Kyodo that Tehran is not open to a ceasefire. “We do not agree to a ceasefire. We do not want a repeat of last year’s scenario. We want a complete, comprehensive, and sustainable end to the war. The only acceptable solution is a complete cessation of hostilities,” he said.

Additionally, an Iranian government representative has called for guarantees that similar situations will not occur in the future, along with compensation for damages.

President Trump claimed that the U.S. has achieved its military objectives in Iran ahead of schedule, while Iranian officials reject the notion of a ceasefire. Criticism from media sources highlights ongoing debates about the effectiveness of U.S. military actions.
