City Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that the strike claimed the lives of a primary school teacher from Lyceum No. 6 and her second-grade son. The deceased 13-year-old girl was a student at Lyceum No. 16, and her mother also perished in the attack.
Terekhov noted that three missile strikes targeted Kharkiv, hitting various facilities, critical infrastructure, and a residential building, which suffered extensive damage to one of its entrances. Sixteen apartment buildings were affected, with four experiencing significant structural damage. Authorities will conduct assessments to determine the viability of these buildings for continued use. Plans for relocating residents will be made once recovery efforts are completed and all bodies are identified.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing at the site of the missile strike. Preliminary reports indicate that the Russian army used an ‘Izdelie-30’ missile in the attack, prompting prosecutors to initiate a preliminary investigation into the incident as a potential war crime.
