Thailand Emerges as Key Drone Exporter to Russia Amid Ongoing Conflict

Skyhub Technologies Ltd., a prominent player in the drone import sector, has been identified as the second-largest importer of drones from China to Thailand. A significant portion of these unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is reportedly re-exported to Russia, a practice that remains legal.

According to anonymous sources speaking to Bloomberg, documents indicate that Skyhub Technologies has facilitated the import of drones primarily from Autel Robotics, one of China’s leading drone manufacturers. However, the ultimate destination of these drones after entering Thailand is less clear.

“In the 11 months leading up to November 2025, Russia imported drones worth $125 million from Thailand, accounting for 88% of Thailand’s total UAV exports and representing an eightfold increase compared to the previous year,” the report stated.

Historically, Thailand has not been recognized as a significant route for drone exports to Russia. However, a review of Thailand’s official trade data reveals a marked increase in drone exports to Russia since 2022, coinciding with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This surge is attributed to Thailand’s increased imports of drones from China.

In response to inquiries about its relationship with Skyhub Technologies, Autel Robotics declined to comment on specific clients, citing confidentiality concerns. Nonetheless, the company emphasized that its drones are designed for civilian use and are equipped with systems intended to prevent flights in conflict zones, including the area between Russia and Ukraine.

Skyhub Technologies has not issued any public statements regarding its drone import activities. This development comes amid broader concerns about the flow of goods and services to Russia, particularly in light of sanctions and international scrutiny.

Additionally, on February 20, Ukrainian intelligence released information regarding 31 vessels involved in transporting Russian oil and liquefied gas. These ships are part of a shadow fleet operating under various national flags.

Skyhub Technologies Ltd. has been identified as a major importer of drones from China to Thailand, with a significant portion re-exported to Russia. This trend has intensified since the onset of the Ukraine conflict, raising concerns about international trade practices.
