Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez Denies Health Rumors Amid Political Tensions

Pedro Sánchez, the Prime Minister of Spain, has publicly dismissed rumors regarding his health, specifically allegations of cardiovascular issues. His statement, made on February 26 via the social media platform X, comes in response to claims circulating in the media.

In his remarks, Sánchez criticized the tactics employed by far-right factions, stating, “The far-right has been declaring the end of this government since day one. The smear machine operates consistently: they spread rumors through pseudo-media, their deputies amplify them, and their commentators pollute public discourse.” This statement underscores his frustration with ongoing political attacks.

He further clarified that he does not suffer from any cardiovascular diseases, as had been suggested. Nevertheless, he emphasized that even if he did, it would not be an issue, noting that millions of individuals continue to work and lead normal lives despite such health conditions.

The Prime Minister’s response was prompted by a report from the Spanish tabloid Libertad Digital, which claimed that he was undergoing treatment for a serious cardiovascular condition, such as thrombosis or a heart attack, at a public hospital in Madrid.

During a parliamentary session on February 25, a member of the center-right People’s Party, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, alluded to the tabloid article and requested Justice Minister Félix Bolaños to clarify whether Sánchez had any health concerns.

Pedro Sánchez, Spain's Prime Minister, has refuted rumors about his health, specifically claims of cardiovascular issues. His comments reflect ongoing political tensions and the use of misinformation in the current political landscape.
