Russian Forces Launch Multiple Attacks in Dnipropetrovsk Region, Causing Injuries and Infrastructure Damage

Russian military forces have conducted nearly 40 attacks across three districts in the Dnipropetrovsk region, utilizing drones, artillery, and aerial bombs, according to regional military administration head Oleksandr Hanzha. The assaults resulted in injuries to two men, aged 41 and 70, with one requiring hospitalization due to moderate injuries.

Significant damage was reported in Nikopol, where the attacks affected transportation infrastructure and damaged nearly two dozen private homes, four multi-story buildings, and agricultural facilities. The situation in Kamyanske and Synelnykove also saw damage to transportation networks and residential buildings, respectively.

Earlier today, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development announced that Russian forces targeted railway infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk region. During the assault, a drone struck an electric locomotive while a freight train was in motion, resulting in injuries to the train driver and assistant.

Regular attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure by Russian military forces have been reported, employing various types of weaponry, including strike drones, missiles, and multiple rocket launch systems. Ukrainian authorities and international organizations categorize these actions as war crimes, emphasizing their deliberate nature.

Officials have condemned the targeting of essential services and healthcare facilities as an attempt to deprive civilians of electricity, heat, water, communication, and medical assistance, which some legal experts argue could constitute genocidal actions. They cite repeated statements from Russian officials denying the existence of Ukrainians as an ethnic group and calling for their destruction.

Legal definitions of genocide, as established by the 1948 UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, include acts intended to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group. This encompasses actions such as killing members of the group, causing serious bodily or mental harm, and deliberately inflicting conditions calculated to bring about the group’s physical destruction.

Despite the evidence of targeted attacks on civilian infrastructure, Russian leadership continues to deny that their military is intentionally striking civilian areas or causing civilian casualties, claiming that the military operations are justified.

Recent Russian military actions in the Dnipropetrovsk region have led to injuries and significant damage to civilian infrastructure. Ukrainian officials classify these attacks as war crimes, raising concerns about potential genocidal actions against the Ukrainian population.
