Russian Drone Attacks Target Odessa Amid Ongoing Conflict

In the early hours of Sunday, Russian forces launched a series of drone attacks on Odessa and its surrounding areas, prompting air raid alerts and raising concerns over the safety of local infrastructure and residents.

According to local authorities, the first alert was issued at 11:45 PM on Saturday, indicating that drones were approaching at a low altitude of approximately 100 meters. Reports indicated that the attacks were primarily aimed at energy facilities in the region.

At 1:31 AM, the air raid alert was lifted, but it was reinstated at 4:04 AM, reflecting the ongoing threat. By 6:59 AM, Sergey Lysak, head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, reported that efforts were underway to mitigate the damage caused by the attacks, thanking those who had assisted the victims.

Another air raid alert was declared at 7:35 AM, underscoring the persistent danger in the area.

This latest wave of attacks follows a series of similar incidents. On the night of March 28, Russian forces targeted Odessa, resulting in damage to residential buildings and infrastructure. Notably, a maternity hospital was struck, leading to partial destruction of a nearby apartment complex, fires, and injuries among civilians.

The escalation of drone strikes on Odessa highlights the ongoing conflict’s impact on civilian life and infrastructure in Ukraine. The situation remains fluid, with local authorities continuing to monitor threats and respond to emergencies as they arise.
