Russian Attacks Leave Casualties and Power Outages in Ukraine

On April 6, 2026, a series of Russian attacks in Ukraine resulted in significant casualties and widespread power outages. The city of Odesa was particularly hard hit, with reports confirming the deaths of three individuals, including a child, and injuries to ten others, two of whom are in critical condition.

The attacks in Odesa included drone strikes that targeted residential areas in the Kyiv and Primorsky districts. According to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa Military Administration, emergency services are currently on-site assessing the damage and assisting those affected. Air raid alerts were issued shortly before the strikes, with the first warning at 2:23 AM and explosions reported around 3:12 AM.

“The situation is under control, and all necessary services are responding to the aftermath of the attack,” Lysak stated in a Telegram update.

In addition to the casualties in Odesa, a separate incident involving a Russian strike on an energy facility left approximately 340,000 residents in the Chernihiv region without electricity. The attack occurred early in the morning and affected residents in Chernihiv, Pryluky, and surrounding areas. The local energy provider, Chernihivoblenergo, reported that essential infrastructure was damaged, prompting emergency repair efforts that will commence as soon as safety conditions allow.

“Due to the hostile attack, a critical energy facility in the Nizhyn district has been compromised, leading to widespread outages,” the company noted.

In Chernihiv, the disruption has led to the temporary suspension of all trolleybus services. Buses are currently operating on routes 2 and 11 to accommodate commuters. The city council indicated that trolleybus operations would resume once power is restored.

As the situation continues to unfold, local authorities are working diligently to address the immediate needs of those affected by these attacks, while also preparing for ongoing threats to public safety and infrastructure.

Recent Russian attacks in Ukraine have resulted in multiple casualties in Odesa and significant power outages in the Chernihiv region. Emergency services are responding to the aftermath as local authorities work to restore normalcy.
