Recent attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have left consumers in five regions without electricity. The National Energy Company of Ukraine, known as Ukrenergo, reported these outages on April 6.
As of the morning of April 6, energy workers are operating under heightened conditions to restore power as quickly as possible. Emergency restoration efforts are ongoing around the clock, depending on the security situation.
According to Ukrenergo, Russian military forces have continued to launch missile and drone strikes targeting energy facilities over the past two days. This has resulted in power outages for residents in Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions.
Electricity consumption is on the rise, with levels recorded at 9:30 AM on April 6 showing a 3.3% increase compared to the same time on April 3. This uptick is attributed to the usual increase in demand at the start of the workweek, along with overcast weather reducing the efficiency of residential solar power systems.
Ukrenergo advises consumers to use high-power electrical appliances during daylight hours, specifically from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, when solar power generation is most effective. Additionally, consumers are urged to conserve energy during evening hours, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, to help ease the strain on the energy system.
Ukrainian regions are experiencing power outages due to ongoing military attacks on energy infrastructure. Efforts to restore electricity are underway, with rising consumption prompting advisories for efficient energy use.
