Norwegian Teen Arrested for Alleged Terror Plot Against NATO Base

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in Norway on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack against a NATO facility. The arrest took place in Rogaland, with authorities alleging that the individual had been radicalized and had previously brought an ISIS flag to school.

The Norwegian Police Security Service confirmed the detention, stating that the teenager was interrogated for four to five hours before being remanded in custody for two weeks. The charges include preparation for a terrorist act.

According to prosecutors, the boy allegedly intended to detonate an explosive device at a NATO site in Jåttå, a joint military operations center located in Stavanger. During the investigation, two data storage devices were seized, although the contents have not been disclosed.

NRK reported that the teenager had expressed support for ISIS and had displayed the organization’s flag at his school. His defense attorney, Knut Lerum, stated that the client does not admit to any wrongdoing.

A custody hearing was held at the District Court of Southern Rogaland in Sandnes. Prosecutors raised concerns about the potential for evidence tampering, which could impede both the investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.
