Norwegian Anna Strem Claims Gold in Women’s Ski Jumping at 2026 Olympics

The women’s ski jumping event concluded at the 2026 Winter Olympics, with Norwegian athlete Anna Strem securing the gold medal in the large hill competition.

After the first round, Norway’s Eirin Kvaendal led the standings with a score of 140.6 points, edging out Strem, who was the reigning champion from the normal hill event, by 3.9 points.

In the second round, Strem overcame the deficit, achieving a score of 148.1 points with a jump of 132 meters, propelling her to the top position. Kvaendal also surpassed the 140-point mark with 142.1 points, earning the silver medal, while Slovenia’s Nika Prevc took home the bronze with a score of 143.2 points.

Final Standings – Women’s Large Hill Ski Jumping:

  • Anna Strem (Norway) – 284.8 points
  • Eirin Kvaendal (Norway) – 282.7 points
  • Nika Prevc (Slovenia) – 271.5 points

Strem’s victory marks a historic achievement as she becomes the first female ski jumper to win gold in both events at the Olympics. The 2026 Games are notable for being the first to include women’s competitions on the large hill, as previous Olympics only featured women’s events on the normal hill.

“This has been an extraordinary week for me,” Strem remarked following her performances in Predazzo, in an exclusive interview with Suspilne Sport. “These jumpsuits are practically built for me: great height, challenging take-off. It has been an incredibly successful week, and I am very happy about it.”

Strem expressed her joy in celebrating with her teammate Kvaendal, stating, “This is the best feeling in the world—to celebrate with a teammate. We performed excellently. She had a great tournament on the large hill. I am very grateful to the entire team for being in this position and achieving this together.”

Significance of Anna Strem’s Gold Medal:

  • With two gold medals, she matches the women’s record for Olympic titles. Previously, only Slovenian athletes Urša Bogataj and Nika Vodan had secured two golds, both in mixed team events.
  • No female ski jumper has previously won two individual titles. Three athletes, besides Strem, have each won one gold on the normal hill: Slovenia’s Bogataj, Norway’s Maren Lundby, and Germany’s Katharina Althaus.
  • Strem’s victory contributed to Norway’s 12th gold medal at the 2026 Olympics, maintaining the country’s lead in the overall medal tally, ahead of the host nation, Italy, by four golds.

The ski jumping program at the 2026 Olympics will conclude with the men’s team competition, featuring the Ukrainian team, scheduled for Monday, February 16, at 20:00 Kyiv time.

Anna Strem of Norway made history by winning gold in both women's ski jumping events at the 2026 Olympics. Her achievements highlight a significant milestone in women's sports, as this is the first Olympics to feature women's large hill competitions.
