The Kyiv city administration has announced plans to redesign the public area at the intersection of Shevchenko Boulevard and Khreshchatyk Street, previously home to a Lenin statue. The project aims to introduce a new fountain, seating, and improved accessibility, with completion expected by 2027.
According to Valentyn Mondryi, the deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA), the initiative will be funded by private sponsors. The redevelopment will feature a cast-iron Termen fountain, similar to the one at Volodymyrska Hill, along with benches, lighting, and landscaped pathways.
The project has undergone several phases of review and approval, with funding secured through a specific administrative order. Currently, Kyivavtodor is initiating procurement processes via the electronic system Prozorro.
KCSA officials believe that the revitalized space will enhance daily mobility and leisure opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
