The Kremlin has announced that the trilateral negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine are currently on hold. Despite this pause, Russia continues to exchange information with the United States, according to spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
Peskov stated that the complexities of U.S. domestic issues are hindering the ability to convene the trilateral discussions. He remarked, “The Americans have many other matters to attend to, which makes it difficult to gather in this format at the moment.” Nevertheless, he noted that Ukraine is still engaged in dialogue with American officials.
When asked about the potential impact of a visit by U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner to Kyiv on reviving the negotiation process, Peskov indicated that the Kremlin is unaware of any such plans. He stated, “We are not informed about the scheduling of this visit.” This comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has extended an invitation to the American delegation to come to Kyiv, with expectations that they may arrive after the Easter holiday.
The Kremlin has confirmed that trilateral talks regarding the Ukraine conflict are currently paused, while information exchanges with the U.S. continue. Despite uncertainty surrounding a potential U.S. delegation visit to Kyiv, Ukraine remains hopeful for renewed discussions.
