Kim Jong-un Re-elected as General Secretary of North Korean Workers’ Party

Kim Jong-un has been re-elected as the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of North Korea during its ninth congress, according to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

Nearly 5,000 delegates expressed their unanimous support for Kim, who will lead the party for the next five years. The congress also saw the election of the party’s central committee and other governing bodies.

During the proceedings, Kim was credited with enhancing the prestige of North Korea and establishing a strong foundation for its global standing. Reports indicated that under his leadership, the military has been transformed into a more elite and powerful force, with significant improvements in the country’s military deterrence, particularly through its nuclear capabilities.

Additionally, KCNA noted that there were no indications of Kim’s teenage daughter, Kim Ju-ae, participating in the congress, despite ongoing speculation about her potential future role as her father’s successor.

Kim Jong-un has been reaffirmed as the leader of North Korea's Workers' Party, securing support from thousands of delegates. His leadership has been marked by military enhancements and speculation regarding his daughter's future role.
