Israel Mobilizes 100,000 Reservists Amid Ongoing Military Operations in Iran

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has mobilized 100,000 reservists in response to ongoing military operations in Iran, as reported by The Times of Israel. This mobilization adds to the 50,000 reservists already on active duty.

The IDF’s ground forces have reinforced positions along Israel’s borders with Syria, Lebanon, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank. Additionally, the rear command has called up 20,000 reservists primarily for search and rescue operations. The Israeli Air Force, Navy, and Intelligence Directorate have also increased their operational readiness. The IDF has assured that all necessary logistical support will be provided to the reservists to ensure they can serve under optimal conditions.

Military Operations Against Iran

On February 28, Israel conducted an airstrike on Tehran, the capital of Iran. Following this, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the commencement of a significant military operation aimed at neutralizing perceived threats from the Iranian regime. He accused Iranian authorities of funding and training militants in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Palestine.

The stated objectives of the operation include dismantling Iran’s missile industry and naval capabilities, as well as preventing further destabilization in the region. In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared that it had launched missiles and drones toward Israel and targeted U.S. military bases in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Amid these developments, French President Emmanuel Macron called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council. The European Union has reiterated its commitment to ensuring regional security and stability in the Middle East.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed support for providing Iranians an opportunity to rid themselves of what he termed a ‘terrorist regime,’ emphasizing the need for security for all nations affected by Iranian aggression.

On the same day as the strike, Trump tweeted that Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was dead, a claim later confirmed by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA). The following day, the IRGC announced the initiation of what it termed the ‘most destructive offensive operation in the history of the Islamic Republic’ against Israel and U.S. military bases. Trump responded by warning the Iranian regime to abandon its plans, threatening a ‘very strong strike’ in retaliation.

The IDF has mobilized a significant number of reservists amid escalating military operations against Iran, coinciding with U.S. involvement. The situation has prompted international calls for urgent discussions on regional security.
