Iranian Delegation Arrives in Islamabad for Talks with U.S.

An Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has arrived in Islamabad for discussions with U.S. representatives. The visit follows ongoing tensions and is seen as a critical step in diplomatic efforts.

According to Iranian media, Ghalibaf is accompanied by several key officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian, and Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati, along with various parliament members.

The Iranian representatives were welcomed by Pakistani officials, including Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed hopes for constructive engagement and emphasized the need for a long-term resolution to the ongoing conflict.

Prior to the talks, the Iranian military announced plans to enhance its management of the Strait of Hormuz, asserting its intention to maintain control and uphold Iran’s legitimate rights in the region.

U.S. President Donald Trump, amidst the peace negotiations taking place in Pakistan, remarked that Iran possesses no leverage beyond short-term threats related to the Strait of Hormuz. He indicated that the success of the talks could be assessed within 24 hours.

Trump also warned Iran of potential new attacks that would be “better and stronger” if the country fails to adhere to a two-week ceasefire agreement.

The arrival of the Iranian delegation in Islamabad marks a significant moment in U.S.-Iran relations, as both sides seek to address ongoing tensions. The outcome of these discussions remains to be seen, with high stakes involved for regional stability.
