Intensified Fighting Reported in Eastern Ukraine as Russian Forces Launch 88 Attacks

On March 31, Ukrainian military officials reported a significant uptick in hostilities, with Russian forces launching 88 attacks since the start of the day. The majority of these assaults were concentrated in the Pokrovsk direction, where 44 attempts were made to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian military targeted areas around the settlements of Bilitske, Nova Shakhovka, Myrnohrad, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Muravka, Molodetske, Novopidhorodne, Horikhove, and Filiya. The report noted that three offensive actions by the enemy were ongoing.

In addition to the Pokrovsk front, fighting was reported in the Kostiantynivka and Huliaipole directions. In Kostiantynivka, Russian forces carried out 16 attacks near the settlements of Sofiivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Pleshchiyivka, Rusyn Yar, Mykolaypillya, and Kostiantynivka, with three assaults still in progress.

The Guliaipole area saw 11 attacks directed at Ukrainian positions, particularly around Rivnopillia, Olenokostiantynivka, Zaliznychne, Huliaipole, and Myrne. Airstrikes also targeted the regions of Vozdvizhivka, Huliaipole, Yehorivka, Dolynka, Kopani, and Krynivka.

Fighting has also been reported across several other fronts, including Southern Slobozhanshchyna, Kupiansk, Lyman, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Oleksandrivka, and Prydniprovske. The intensity of these engagements reflects a broader trend of escalating violence in the region.

General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, indicated on March 26 that intense combat operations were ongoing in the southern operational zone, with Ukrainian forces actively monitoring the repositioning of Russian troops.

In a March 19 interview with Radio Svoboda, Ruslan Habinet, commander of the 5th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade, confirmed that Ukrainian defense units were maintaining control over certain sections of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad in Donetsk.

Military analysts have noted a surge in fighting on the front lines of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, attributing this increase to improved weather conditions. They anticipate a rise in Russian ground operations as the month progresses.

Ukrainian military reports indicate a sharp increase in Russian attacks, particularly in the Pokrovsk area, as fighting intensifies across multiple fronts. Analysts expect continued escalation in operations as weather conditions improve.
