Intense Fighting Continues in Eastern Ukraine Amid Ongoing Military Operations

As of April 7, Ukrainian forces reported 128 combat engagements along the front lines, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The enemy conducted 43 airstrikes, dropping 145 guided bombs, and deployed 4,878 kamikaze drones, along with 2,321 shelling attacks on populated areas and military positions, as detailed in an update released at 10:00 PM.

More than half of the clashes were concentrated in three key areas: the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka directions in Donetsk, and the Huliaipole direction in Zaporizhzhia.

Defensive forces successfully repelled 26 enemy assaults in the Kostiantynivka area, particularly near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiyivka, Illinivka, Stepanivka, Ivanopillia, Rusynyi Yar, and Sofiivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy launched 24 attacks, attempting to advance in the vicinity of Bilytske, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Rivne, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Hryshyne, Dachne, Filia, Muravka, and Novopavlivka. One engagement is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, in the Huliaipole direction, there were 23 enemy attacks reported in areas including Dobropillia, Tsvitkove, Varvarivka, Huliaipilske, Sviatopetrivka, Pryliuky, Hirke, Olenokostiantynivka, and Zaliznychne. Airstrikes were also carried out in the Vozdvizhenske and Tavriiske regions.

Fighting persisted in the Northern Slobozhansky, Kursk, Southern Slobozhansky, Kupiansk, Lyman, Sloviansk, Oleksandrivka, and Dnipro directions.

On April 1, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated that the Pokrovsk direction remains the most intense along the entire 1,200-kilometer active front.

Syrskyi noted that Ukrainian forces recently halted the advance of Russian troops in several populated areas near Hryshyne, Myrnohrad, and Tavriisk.

In a March 19 interview with Radio Free Europe, Colonel Ruslan Habinet, commander of the 5th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade, which is operating in the Pokrovsk direction, confirmed that Ukrainian forces continue to maintain control over certain sections of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad in Donetsk.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, referencing British intelligence on April 3, remarked that while the situation at the front remains challenging, it is the most favorable it has been in the last ten months.

Recent reports indicate a significant escalation in combat activities in eastern Ukraine, particularly in the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka areas. Ukrainian forces are actively repelling numerous attacks, maintaining control over critical regions despite ongoing airstrikes and drone usage by enemy forces.
