A recent survey conducted by Median for HVG indicates that the opposition party Tisza, led by Peter Madyara, has expanded its lead over Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz party to 23 percentage points. This marks an increase from a 20-point lead reported last month.
The poll, conducted between March 17 and 20, reveals that 58% of decided voters support Tisza, while Fidesz garners 35%. If these figures translate into actual votes in the upcoming parliamentary elections on April 12, Tisza could secure a two-thirds majority in the legislature.
Overall, among the eligible voting population, Tisza has the backing of 46%, compared to Fidesz’s 30%. This shift in public sentiment highlights a growing preference for the opposition party as the election date approaches.
In a related finding, a separate survey by Research Center 21 shows that 36% of Hungarians still believe that Fidesz will win the elections, despite its current standing in the polls. Additionally, European intelligence reports have suggested that Russian security services may have proposed staging an assassination attempt on Orbán to bolster public support for his party amid declining approval ratings.
The latest Median survey shows the opposition party Tisza leading Viktor Orbán's Fidesz by 23 points ahead of the April elections. This shift in voter sentiment could result in a significant parliamentary majority for Tisza.
