Julia Klöckner, the President of the German Bundestag, arrived in Kyiv on March 11, marking her first official visit to Ukraine since assuming office in March of the previous year.
The visit was confirmed by Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, who personally welcomed Klöckner at the capital’s railway station.
“At a time when Russia continues its war against our state, the presence of the German parliamentary leadership in Kyiv carries significant weight,” Stefanchuk stated.
He characterized Klöckner’s visit as a clear political signal of solidarity with Ukraine and support at the highest parliamentary level.
Klöckner is a member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party. According to DW, she was elected as the head of the Bundestag on March 25, 2025, becoming the fourth woman to hold this position in Germany’s history.
Julia Klöckner's visit to Kyiv underscores Germany's parliamentary support for Ukraine amidst ongoing conflict with Russia. The trip reflects a commitment to solidarity at a high political level.
