On February 19, France announced a €71 million grant to Ukraine, with a portion of the funds designated for the energy sector. This announcement followed a meeting between Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal and French Minister of Economy, Finance, and Industry Roland Lescure.
During the discussions, the officials also signed an agreement to enhance cooperation in nuclear energy. Shmyhal emphasized that this initiative lays a solid foundation for deepening strategic partnership and establishing a framework for the recovery and modernization of Ukraine’s energy sector.
“This establishes a strong basis for deepening strategic partnership and forms a framework for the recovery and modernization of Ukraine’s energy sector,” Shmyhal stated.
He highlighted that France has already provided over 50 shipments of humanitarian energy assistance to Ukraine, which includes more than 140 powerful generators. Additionally, €5.7 million has been allocated to the Energy Support Fund.
Shmyhal expressed gratitude to the French government for its decision to supply an additional 150 generators to Ukraine in February. He noted that together with France, three significant infrastructure projects are being implemented to enhance the resilience of regional energy systems.
“Together with France, we are implementing three important infrastructure projects for the resilience of regional energy systems. We see the involvement and readiness of French companies to continue and deepen cooperation,” the Energy Minister added.
France's recent grant to Ukraine aims to bolster the country's energy sector amid ongoing challenges. The collaboration includes nuclear energy initiatives and infrastructure projects to enhance energy resilience.
