A fire at a drone manufacturing facility in Pardubice, Czech Republic, is being investigated as an act of arson. This incident has garnered attention following claims from a group named “Earthquake Faction,” which has taken responsibility for the fire as part of their protest against Israeli weaponry.
The facility, operated by LPP Holding, collaborates with Israel’s Elbit Systems to produce drones, including the Divoká svině UAV, which have been supplied to Ukraine through a volunteer initiative called “Darek pro Putina” (“Gift for Putin”). Organizers of this initiative have stated that preliminary assessments indicate the fire has not disrupted the supply of drones to Ukraine.
Former military intelligence chief Andor Shandor remarked that the incident is unusual for the Czech Republic, particularly due to the involvement of a relatively obscure group. He suggested that possibilities include Russian sabotage or a false flag operation. Shandor noted, “Of course, this cannot be completely ruled out. In their statement, the alleged perpetrators reference Gaza, which seems odd to me, as the conflict there began in October three years ago and is no longer in an active phase.”
Earlier reports indicated that the group of protesters claimed to have set fire to a “key production center” of Israeli weapons in Pardubice to end its role in what they described as the “genocide in Gaza.” This incident comes amid heightened tensions in Europe, with other recent events including arson at a synagogue in Rotterdam, which authorities suspect may involve Iran, and an explosion near a Jewish school in Amsterdam.
