Finland Tops World Happiness Report for Ninth Consecutive Year

Finland has been ranked as the happiest country in the world for the ninth consecutive year, according to the latest World Happiness Report. Following Finland in the rankings are Iceland and Denmark, while Ukraine is positioned at 111th place.

The report, which assesses how individuals evaluate their quality of life, indicates that Finns provided an average score of over 7 points on a scale of 10. This year, Finland received a score of 7.764.

The top ten happiest countries, as outlined in the report, are as follows:

  • Finland (7.764)
  • Iceland (7.540)
  • Denmark (7.539)
  • Costa Rica (7.439)
  • Sweden (7.255)
  • Norway (7.242)
  • Netherlands (7.223)
  • Israel (7.187)
  • Luxembourg (7.063)
  • Switzerland (7.018)

Ukraine’s score of 4.658 marks no change from its position last year. Afghanistan continues to be ranked as the least happy country, a position it has held since 2025. The report notes that countries experiencing significant conflict tend to score lower in happiness.

Researchers observed that in eight out of ten global regions, which encompass approximately 90% of the world’s population, younger individuals report higher life satisfaction now compared to the period between 2006 and 2010. However, in North America and Western Europe, youth happiness has declined significantly over the past 15 years, coinciding with a marked increase in social media usage.

The report’s authors also highlighted that active social media users are at a higher risk of lower life satisfaction, particularly among residents of English-speaking countries and Western Europe.

Finland has maintained its position as the happiest country in the world for the ninth year in a row, according to the World Happiness Report. The report also highlights trends in youth satisfaction and the impact of social media on well-being.
