The European Council has announced an extension of sanctions against individuals deemed responsible for undermining Ukraine’s territorial integrity. This decision, made on March 14, will keep the measures in place until September 15, 2026.
Currently, approximately 2,600 individuals and entities are included in the sanctions list, which was established in response to Russia’s ongoing military aggression against Ukraine. The sanctions impose travel bans, asset freezes, and restrictions on providing funds or other economic resources to those listed.
In a recent statement, the Council noted that as part of its review process, it has opted not to renew the inclusion of two individuals on the sanctions list and has removed five deceased persons. However, the specific names of those removed have not been disclosed.
This extension reflects the EU’s commitment to supporting Ukraine and holding accountable those responsible for actions that threaten its sovereignty.
