Escalation of Russian Attacks in Ukraine: March 1 Update

On March 1, the Ukrainian General Staff reported a significant increase in Russian military activity, with 51 attacks recorded since the start of the day. This escalation has particularly affected border regions, including Sumy and Chernihiv.

In Sumy, localities such as Rohizne, Volfyne, Budky, Kucheryvka, Zarichne, and Ulanove were targeted. Meanwhile, Chernihiv saw assaults on Klyusy, Khrinivka, Hrumyach, and Bohdanove. The report, updated at 16:00, indicates that over half of the clashes occurred in two primary areas: Pokrovsk in Donetsk and Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attempted to displace Ukrainian troops from their positions 14 times, targeting the areas around Shakhove, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udačne, and Molodetske. One engagement is still ongoing.

Similarly, in the Huliaipole direction, 13 attacks were reported in the vicinity of Huliaipole and Myrne, as well as towards Zaliznychne and Staroukrainka. Russian forces also conducted airstrikes in the areas of Vozdvizhivka, Samiylivka, Holubkove, and Charivne, with three engagements currently in progress.

Fighting has also been reported in several other regions, including Pivdenno-Slobozhanskyi, Kupiansk, Lyman, Sloviansk, Kostiantynivka, Oleksandrivka, and Orikhiv.

Earlier, on February 15, military analyst Kostiantyn Mashovets from the Information Resistance group noted that Ukrainian forces had undertaken counteroffensive operations in several areas around Huliaipole and Zaporizhzhia. According to his reports, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully reclaimed several villages near Pokrovsk in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and Ternove in Zaporizhzhia, as well as areas to the north and west of Huliaipole and south of Zaporizhzhia. However, the Ukrainian General Staff has not officially commented on these counteroffensive actions, while Russian forces continue their assaults in the region.

The Ukrainian General Staff reported 51 Russian attacks on March 1, with significant fighting occurring in the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole regions. The situation remains tense as both sides engage in ongoing clashes.
