The city of Konotop in Sumy Oblast experienced a drone attack early on the morning of October 10, resulting in fires in both an administrative building and a residential structure. Mayor Artem Semenikhin provided updates via social media, detailing the unfolding situation.
Shortly after 4:00 AM, Semenikhin reported the initial drone strike, which targeted the city center. He later confirmed that an administrative building was engulfed in flames. By 5:18 AM, he noted an additional explosion had occurred within the city.
As the situation developed, the mayor indicated that a five-story residential building had also been hit, leading to further fires. He mentioned that vehicles in the vicinity were damaged as well.
In his updates, Semenikhin highlighted that gas lines were severed in one of the central districts of Konotop. He stated, “Several apartment buildings are without gas.” By 5:50 AM, he reported that the fires had been extinguished, and at least three private vehicles were destroyed. Fortunately, he indicated that there were no immediate reports of casualties.
Authorities are currently assisting residents displaced from their damaged homes, as the community begins to assess the extent of the damage caused by the attack.
