Arab and Islamic Nations Urge Iran to Cease Regional Attacks

Foreign ministers from twenty Arab and Islamic nations convened in Riyadh on March 19, calling for an immediate halt to Iranian attacks on regional countries. This collective statement follows discussions aimed at enhancing security and stability in the area.

Attendees included the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. The primary focus of the summit was to explore measures to bolster regional security.

The ministers condemned what they termed “deliberate Iranian attacks” utilizing ballistic missiles and drones targeting residential areas and critical infrastructure, which encompasses oil facilities, desalination plants, airports, housing complexes, and diplomatic missions.

They asserted that such assaults by Iran are unjustifiable under any circumstances and reaffirmed their nations’ rights to defend themselves in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.

The statement urged Tehran to immediately cease its attacks and to respect international law and principles of good neighborliness as a preliminary step toward de-escalation and the restoration of regional stability.

Furthermore, the foreign ministers from twelve nations indicated that the future of relations with Iran hinges on its respect for their sovereignty, non-interference in domestic affairs, and abstention from threats against neighboring countries.

They also called on Iranian authorities to refrain from actions that could jeopardize international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz or maritime security in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.

The ministers reiterated their support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity, while also condemning Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

All summit participants agreed to continue consultations and coordination to respond to developments and take necessary measures to safeguard the security and sovereignty of their countries, as well as to halt Iranian attacks.

Foreign ministers from Arab and Islamic nations convened to address Iranian aggression, calling for an immediate cessation of attacks and emphasizing regional stability. The meeting underscored a collective commitment to sovereignty and security amidst escalating tensions.
