Ukrposhta Secures Military Booking Amid Ongoing Challenges

Ukrposhta, the national postal service of Ukraine, has received military booking for its employees not due to its status as a state enterprise, but rather as a component of military infrastructure. This development highlights the dual role the company plays in both civilian and military operations during ongoing conflict.

In a recent statement, the company’s director general, Ihor Smilyansky, emphasized that Ukrposhta has achieved a 100% booking rate for its employees who are subject to military service. However, this status has led to significant operational challenges.

Smilyansky reported that the company has faced numerous incidents of arson targeting its facilities, attributed to the distribution of military summons. He stated, “We have suffered because of this booking, as no one reports how many of our branches are set on fire and how much we spend on repairs. This has already cost millions of hryvnias. Almost every week, branches are burned down because we are distributing summonses.”

The company has secured a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which has further solidified its role in military operations. Smilyansky clarified, “We were granted booking not because we are Ukrposhta, but because we are part of military infrastructure. We have a contract with the Ministry of Defense for the distribution of summonses.” This contract underscores the strategic importance of the postal service in supporting military mobilization efforts.

Ukrposhta has secured military booking for its employees as part of its role in military infrastructure, facing challenges including arson attacks on its branches. The company has a contract with the Ministry of Defense to distribute military summons, which has led to significant operational costs.
