The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has addressed comments made by U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance regarding alleged Ukrainian interference in elections in Hungary and the United States. Officials characterized these statements as part of the ongoing electoral campaign and not worthy of excessive attention.
Ministry spokesperson Oleg Tykhyy urged the public to consider the full context of the press conference where Vance spoke, rather than focusing on isolated quotes circulating on social media. “I encourage everyone to listen to the entire press conference, as we also initially encountered anonymous reports in Telegram channels,” he stated.
During the press conference, journalists attempted to elicit provocative responses from Vance, who maintained a neutral stance throughout. Tykhyy acknowledged that a particular phrase was indeed mentioned but emphasized that it was made in the context of the electoral campaign. “We do not assign any overly risky emotional significance to this statement,” he remarked.
He also pointed out that there have been no direct communications between U.S. and Ukrainian officials regarding this issue, as both Washington and Kyiv are currently focused on more pressing matters. “Frankly, we do not overemphasize the importance of this statement and again urge everyone to watch the full context—it will become clear that these words did not come from the U.S. President,” Tykhyy added.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has downplayed comments from U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance about alleged Ukrainian interference in elections, framing them as part of a political campaign. Officials encourage viewing the full context of Vance's statements, asserting that they do not warrant significant concern.
