Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Highlights Declining Russian Influence Amid Regime Changes

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, has pointed to a significant decline in Russia’s global influence following the downfall of key allies, including former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, ex-Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Sybiha emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin has proven to be an unreliable ally, failing to provide substantial support to these leaders during critical moments.

In just over a year, Putin has lost three pivotal partners, with Moscow unable to offer effective assistance to any of them in their times of need. According to Sybiha, this trend underscores three critical realities.

Firstly, Russia is not a dependable ally, even for regimes that are heavily reliant on it. Secondly, while Russia remains embroiled in what Sybiha described as a “senseless war” against Ukraine—one it is unlikely to win—its global influence is sharply diminishing.

Furthermore, the minister articulated a belief that the ongoing process of regime change represents a “domino effect” that could ultimately lead to the collapse of Putin’s own government.

“The fall of Putin is inevitable. Together, we must make every effort to hasten this joyful day and ensure accountability for all Russian crimes. Justice is inevitable,” Sybiha stated.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has outlined the diminishing influence of Russia on the global stage, citing the loss of key allies and asserting that Putin's regime is increasingly viewed as unreliable. He predicts that the ongoing decline of authoritarian leaders will contribute to the eventual downfall of Putin himself.
