U.S. Proposes Delay in Trilateral Talks Amid Middle East Tensions

A scheduled round of trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia has been postponed at the request of the U.S. government. This decision comes as the focus shifts to escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy provided an update following discussions with Ukraine’s negotiating team. He noted that the upcoming meeting with U.S. and Russian representatives would be delayed due to the current geopolitical situation.

“It is important that we are in constant communication with the American side, 24/7. Currently, our partners’ priority and attention are directed towards the situation surrounding Iran, which has led to the postponement of the meeting initially planned for this week at the suggestion of the U.S.,” Zelenskyy stated.

Despite the delay, Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine’s readiness to engage in discussions at any time and in a format that could realistically contribute to ending the conflict. He remarked, “We see that the Russians are attempting to manipulate the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region to their advantage, using it to further their aggression. They are effectively trying to turn Iranian strikes against neighbors and American bases into a second front in their war against Ukraine and, more broadly, against the West.”

In related developments, on March 6, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated that President Donald Trump remains optimistic about the potential for peace in Ukraine.

The U.S. has requested a postponement of trilateral talks involving Ukraine and Russia due to rising tensions in the Middle East. President Zelenskyy reaffirmed Ukraine's readiness for negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict.
