President Donald Trump has dismissed Attorney General Pam Bondi, who will transition to a new position soon to be announced.
In a statement, Trump praised Bondi as a “patriot” who has diligently served in her role over the past year, highlighting that the murder rate in the United States has dropped to its lowest level since 1900 under her tenure.
Trump expressed his appreciation for Bondi, stating, “We love Pam,” and indicated that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, a respected legal professional, will take over as acting Attorney General.
The reasons behind Bondi’s dismissal remain unclear, as Trump did not provide specific details regarding his decision.
However, CNN reported earlier today that Trump had been privately discussing the possibility of Bondi’s removal. Sources indicated that the president was frustrated with the backlash from voters regarding his administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Additionally, it was suggested that Trump was dissatisfied with Bondi’s perceived lack of initiative in investigating cases against his political adversaries.
Journalists have noted that Trump is considering Lee Zeldin, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, as a potential replacement for Bondi.
President Trump has removed Pam Bondi from her position as Attorney General, praising her service while expressing frustration over certain political issues. Todd Blanche will serve as acting Attorney General, with Lee Zeldin being considered for the role permanently.
