Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko has provided the 5th Separate Assault Brigade with a significant shipment of military aid, which includes 1,300 drones of various types. This initiative aims to bolster the capabilities of the brigade on the front lines amid ongoing military operations.
According to Klitschko, the drones were purchased using funds from the city budget, reflecting a commitment to enhance the operational effectiveness of assault units. The delivery consists of:
- 1,000 first-person view (FPV) drones, including 300 specialized interceptors.
- 300 Mavic quadcopters, equipped with both daytime cameras and thermal imaging.
The mayor emphasized that this support for the brigade is part of a systematic approach to military assistance. Since the beginning of 2026, the Kyiv city budget has allocated 100 million hryvnias specifically for equipping the 5th Assault Brigade.
In addition to this recent delivery, the brigade received 50 portable charging stations in February, funded by Ukrainian philanthropists. Klitschko reassured that Kyiv will continue to support all defenders, utilizing both budgetary and non-budgetary resources.
Previously, the Kyiv City Council increased funding for defense and security forces by 3 billion hryvnias. These funds are designated for the acquisition of drones, electronic warfare systems, vehicles, and other essential equipment for military units.
Notably, in 2025, the capital city supplied the front lines with 70,000 drones, along with 350 electronic warfare systems, vehicles, communication tools, and more. Recently, Klitschko also delivered a substantial aid package to the 112th Territorial Defense Brigade on behalf of Kyiv.
