Israel Backs Trump’s Temporary Halt on Strikes Against Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to suspend military strikes against Iran for a two-week period. This announcement comes amid rising tensions in the region and aims to facilitate diplomatic efforts.

Netanyahu’s office stated, “Israel supports President Trump’s decision to pause strikes against Iran for two weeks, contingent upon Iran’s immediate opening of the Strait and cessation of all attacks on the U.S., Israel, and regional countries.” This statement underscores Israel’s strategic interests in maintaining regional stability.

Additionally, Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s alignment with U.S. efforts to ensure that Iran does not pose a nuclear, missile, or terrorist threat to the United States, Israel, its Arab neighbors, or the broader international community. He noted that the U.S. has assured Israel of its commitment to these objectives during upcoming negotiations.

However, Netanyahu clarified that the two-week ceasefire does not extend to Lebanon. This point contrasts with earlier statements from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who indicated that the ceasefire would apply to all Middle Eastern countries, including Lebanon.

Notably, Netanyahu’s statement was released four hours after Trump announced the agreement for the ceasefire, highlighting the rapid developments in diplomatic communications surrounding this issue.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has publicly supported President Trump's decision to temporarily suspend military action against Iran, linking it to regional security concerns. The announcement highlights ongoing diplomatic efforts to address threats posed by Iran, while also clarifying the limitations of the ceasefire regarding Lebanon.
