The European Parliament has sharply criticized Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, labeling him a “useful idiot” for Russia and China. This condemnation came during a speech by German MEP Moritz Körner, who directly addressed Orbán’s policies and actions.
Körner stated, “Mr. Orbán, you are not a patriot. You are merely a useful idiot for Russia and China. That is the reality.” He challenged Orbán’s claims of supporting national sovereignty while allowing Chinese police to monitor citizens in Hungary.
Furthermore, Körner pointed out the contradiction in Orbán’s stance on immigration, accusing him of permitting Russian spies into the Schengen Area while claiming to combat migration. “You say you want to stop migration, yet you let Russian spies into our Schengen zone and call it a national strategy. This is what you are doing,” he remarked.
The MEP also criticized the economic policies of the Hungarian government, arguing that Orbán’s administration is undermining economic competitiveness. “You claim to fight for greater economic competitiveness, yet you continue to impose new laws and taxes on companies to push out European competitors from your country,” Körner explained.
Additionally, he accused Orbán of corruption and contributing to Hungary’s economic decline. “You have turned Hungary into a banana republic. You have robbed your people and enriched your family and friends,” he asserted.
Körner reminded the parliament that under Orbán’s leadership, Hungary has officially become one of the poorest and most corrupt nations in the European Union. “What a deception. What a burden for your people,” he concluded.
The European Parliament has condemned Viktor Orbán for his policies, accusing him of undermining national sovereignty and contributing to Hungary's economic decline.
