Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko met with her Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Støre in Kyiv on February 25, announcing a substantial aid package from Oslo. Norway will provide Ukraine with $9 billion in funding for this year, which includes military and civilian assistance as part of the Nansen Program.
Svyrydenko expressed gratitude for the announcement made during Støre’s visit, highlighting Norway’s role as the largest donor to the PURL initiative, which significantly enhances Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
The discussions between the two leaders also focused on energy security. Svyrydenko emphasized the importance of Norway’s assistance in gas imports and contributions to the Energy Support Fund. Additionally, Norway is supplying distributed generation equipment that will be utilized at Naftogaz facilities.
Future investment projects that could be supported by Norfund’s instruments were also on the agenda during the meeting. Støre has yet to comment publicly on the discussions.
Earlier, on February 12, Norway announced the acquisition of a significant number of French guided bombs as part of a bilateral military support agreement for Ukraine.
