Ukrainian Antimonopoly Committee Investigates Fuel Price Surge

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has conducted an analysis of the recent spike in fuel prices and found no evidence of collusion among major market players.

According to the committee’s head, Kyrylenko, all gas station operators have reported a significant decrease in sales and profitability, indicating their willingness to lower prices.

He noted a notable increase in demand for gasoline and diesel, coupled with a reduction in supply. Additionally, the rising costs of petroleum products and forecasts for further increases in production costs have contributed to the situation.

“Currently, based on the data collected, there is no evidence of collusion among market participants to raise prices,” Kyrylenko stated.

Other contributing factors to the price increase at gas stations include rising logistics costs, customs duties, and fluctuations in currency exchange rates.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the fuel market in Ukraine is unregulated, with prices determined by market forces. However, he assured that the committee would take appropriate measures if any violations are identified in the future.

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has found no collusion among fuel market participants despite rising prices. Factors such as increased demand, reduced supply, and higher logistics costs are influencing the current market dynamics.
