Ukraine’s Energy Supply Improves Amid Ongoing Threats from Russia

Ukraine is witnessing an improvement in its electricity supply situation, attributed to round-the-clock repair efforts and rising temperatures. However, energy officials remain vigilant about potential new attacks from Russia.

According to the Minister of Energy, specialists are currently engaged in removing the consequences of Russian strikes on a 24/7 basis. The positive trend is bolstered by the combined efforts of repair teams and reduced network load due to warmer weather.

“Thanks to the work of repair crews and increased temperatures, we are seeing a trend towards improvement in electricity supply,” stated the Minister of Energy. The highest number of service calls is currently concentrated in Odesa and frontline regions, with over 200 teams working on restoring heat and electricity in Kyiv.

Despite these advancements, energy officials are preparing for potential new challenges. The Minister warned that it is too early to relax, given the enemy’s plans to continue its campaign of terror.

“At the same time, we have information about the enemy’s preparations for new strikes on the energy sector. Therefore, the task for all services is not only rapid recovery but also maximum readiness for upcoming challenges,” emphasized Shmyhal.

The Minister also highlighted that to enhance system resilience, Ukraine is seeking international support. Following a recent visit to France, agreements were reached for a €600 million aid package.

Additionally, Ukrainian engineers are currently in Europe assessing six power plants, with plans to expeditiously transport equipment back to Ukraine.

Ukraine is actively pursuing international assistance for the protection and restoration of its energy system. Previously, Denys Shmyhal proposed to partners the creation of an “Energy Shield” to bolster the security of critical facilities.

Preparations are also underway for significant meetings in the format of an “Energy Ramstein,” where participants and aid volumes will be determined. Beyond financial support, Ukraine is exploring technical solutions for the rapid replacement of damaged capacities, including acquiring entire blocks of equipment from decommissioned European plants.

A secret meeting also took place earlier, where the Prime Minister discussed additional protective measures for energy facilities against Russian missile attacks with partners and military officials.

Ukraine's electricity supply is improving due to ongoing repair efforts and favorable weather, but officials remain alert for potential Russian attacks. International support is being sought to enhance system resilience and restore energy infrastructure.
