Ukraine is in urgent need of air defense missiles and powerful mobile generators to withstand the ongoing energy conflict. According to DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko, the primary focus is on protecting the remaining operational energy infrastructure.
Timchenko emphasized, “Our most pressing request to allies is to help safeguard the parts of the energy system that are still operational by urgently increasing the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine.” He noted that while Ukraine possesses the necessary launch systems, there is a significant shortage of interceptor missiles at the front lines.
The DTEK leader explained that existing anti-drone systems effectively protect facilities; however, they are inadequate against large-scale attacks, particularly when the enemy launches swarms of up to 100 drones simultaneously.
In addition to aerial defense, the energy system requires support to enhance generation capacity. Timchenko stated, “Immediate supply of large mobile generators that can be connected to de-energized apartment buildings will allow the restoration of critical systems and support the functionality of these buildings.”
In parallel with international assistance, DTEK specialists are seeking used transformers and other equipment from European countries that can be adapted for the company’s power plants in Ukraine.
Timchenko asserted that these measures are critical for Ukraine to withstand pressure from Russia and to “endure in the energy war.”
Ukraine's energy sector faces significant challenges, prompting urgent requests for air defense missiles and mobile generators to protect critical infrastructure. DTEK's leadership highlights the need for international support to enhance both defense capabilities and energy generation.
