On April 8, 2023, Ukraine will enforce electricity restrictions for industrial consumers across the country. Domestic consumers are not expected to experience any outages during this period.
The restrictions will be in effect from 07:00 to 10:00 and again from 19:00 to 22:00 in all regions. These measures specifically target industrial users.
The decision to implement these restrictions stems from the impact of recent Russian missile and drone attacks on energy infrastructure. The state-owned company Ukrenergo has indicated that the situation within the energy system may fluctuate, advising citizens to monitor updates from their local energy providers.
Previously, Ukraine experienced a new wave of electricity outages unrelated to weather conditions or large-scale attacks. According to reports, former Ukrenergo head Volodymyr Kudrytskyi attributed these outages to the reintroduction of stricter price caps in the electricity market. He noted that these price restrictions have made electricity imports from the European Union economically unfeasible, resulting in a loss of resource availability during peak demand hours, which has contributed to the outages.
Ukraine is set to implement electricity restrictions for industrial consumers on April 8, 2023, due to the impact of recent attacks on energy infrastructure. Domestic consumers will not be affected, but fluctuations in the energy system are anticipated.
