In a recent social media post, the President of the United States announced a notable rise in the number of empty oil tankers heading to the country for crude oil loading. He described this trend as “wonderful news,” indicating a surge of vessels approaching the Gulf Coast.
The President noted that these tankers, classified as Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC), each capable of transporting approximately 2 million barrels of oil, are on their way to American ports. He attributed this influx to supply shortages in markets affected by restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz.
He suggested that this pattern may indicate a potential increase in U.S. oil exports and a strengthening of the country’s position in the global energy market. However, there has been no official confirmation from U.S. government sources or independent analytical agencies regarding this development.
On April 1, the President told Reuters that he is “absolutely” considering the possibility of withdrawing the United States from NATO due to what he perceives as a lack of support from the alliance concerning U.S. objectives in Iran. In an interview with The Telegraph, he referred to the military alliance as a “paper tiger” and stated that a NATO exit is “not up for reconsideration.”
Experts have raised questions about whether the President could unilaterally withdraw the U.S. from the transatlantic alliance without Congressional approval. The Wall Street Journal reported that the President is contemplating punitive measures against certain NATO members whom he believes have not adequately supported American and Israeli forces during the conflict in Iran.
According to unnamed administration officials cited by the WSJ, proposed measures may include the withdrawal of U.S. troops from NATO countries deemed unhelpful to military efforts, with a potential redeployment to nations that are more supportive of U.S. military campaigns.
The U.S. President has reported an increase in empty oil tankers arriving for crude loading, linking it to supply shortages in global markets. Meanwhile, he is considering potential NATO withdrawal due to perceived lack of support in military objectives.
