On March 2, Ukrainian defense forces launched a significant assault on Russian naval assets in Novorossiysk, resulting in confirmed damage to two vessels of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
Following a thorough analysis of the strike’s impact on the naval base in Krasnodar Krai, it has been verified that the frigates “Admiral Essen” and “Admiral Makarov” sustained damage. The extent of the damage to these frigates is currently being assessed, along with potential impacts on other military ships and support vessels in the area.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated, “Systematic strikes on military infrastructure and defense industry facilities of the enemy will continue until the complete cessation of armed aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.”
In the early hours of March 2, Ukrainian drones executed a coordinated attack on the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Sources from intelligence agencies confirmed that this joint operation by the Security Service of Ukraine and defense forces also targeted the minesweeper “Valentin Pikul.”
The “Admiral Essen” reportedly suffered critical damage and is no longer capable of launching Kalibr missiles. The condition of the “Admiral Makarov” remains uncertain. Additionally, the attack may have inflicted serious damage on the anti-submarine vessels “Yeysk” and “Kasimov.”
Beyond the vessels, the strikes also affected Russian air defense systems and oil infrastructure at the Novorossiysk port.
