Ukrainian soldiers have been honored with the “For Courage” medals after successfully shooting down a Russian Ka-52 helicopter using an FPV drone. This incident highlights the increasing effectiveness of drone technology in modern warfare.
The recipients of the awards include:
- Yuriy Andrusenko – Private;
- David Nechypas – Private;
- Serhiy Slepko – Junior Sergeant;
- Vadym Shapoval – Junior Sergeant.
Pavlo Palisa, a deputy head of the Office of the President, noted that the helicopter, valued at millions, was downed in the Pokrovsk direction. He emphasized that this achievement is not a one-off event, but rather a result of systematic efforts by the unit.
“It is important to understand: this is not a coincidence. This is already systematic work. This is the second similar result for this unit,” Palisa stated.
Palisa further explained that in contemporary warfare, success is determined not by the size of the equipment but by the level of training, precision, and technological advancement.
On March 20, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ drone units, reported that the Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter, which costs at least $16 million, was hit near the settlement of Nadiivka in the Donetsk region. The operation’s success was attributed to the use of a fiber-optic FPV drone, which allowed for an effective strike on the aerial target and eliminated the crew during their evacuation attempt.
Ukrainian soldiers have been awarded for their role in downing a Russian Ka-52 helicopter using advanced drone technology. This incident underscores the growing significance of precision and training in modern military operations.
