Ukrainian Air Force Commander Killed in Action

On March 9, Colonel Oleksandr Dovhach, commander of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade and a Hero of Ukraine, was killed in eastern Ukraine while on a combat mission.

Reports indicate that Dovhach lost his life amid significant aerial opposition and robust enemy air defense systems.

The Air Force stated, “Oleksandr Dovhach was not just a commander; he was a true leader and combat pilot. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the brigade under his command delivered precise and impactful strikes against the enemy.”

Throughout his service, Dovhach conducted hundreds of combat sorties, targeting command centers, equipment, and communication systems of Russian forces.

His contributions included providing cover for attack and bomber aircraft, as well as neutralizing enemy drones and missiles. Dovhach fought in critical regions such as Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Snake Island. He was known for taking on the most dangerous assignments and inspiring his subordinates to act decisively and courageously.

The circumstances surrounding Dovhach’s death are currently under investigation by the Air Force.
