The Ukrainian government has appointed a new supervisory board for Naftogaz, the state-owned oil and gas company, based on recommendations from the nomination committee, as announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
The newly formed board consists of six members, including independent international experts with extensive experience in the energy sector. The appointed members are:
- Robert Schlesinski (Poland) – a corporate governance and energy expert.
- Erik Rasmussen (Denmark) – a specialist in energy and infrastructure financing, previously involved in corporate governance reforms at state enterprises, including Naftogaz.
- Duncan Nightingale (Canada) – an expert in operational management and energy asset development, formerly chair of the supervisory board at Ukrnafta, where he implemented OECD practices.
- Tore Martin Anfinnsen (Norway) – held leadership positions at the Norwegian energy giant Equinor.
Representing the government on the board are Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Anna Artemenko, and State Secretary of the Cabinet Konstantin Maryevich.
The previous supervisory board’s three-year term was set to expire in January 2026. On November 18, 2025, the government announced a competition for the positions on the supervisory board of Naftogaz, marking a significant step in the government’s plan to revamp the management of all state-owned enterprises in the energy sector.
Prior to this, on November 17, the government approved an action plan aimed at renewing the supervisory boards and executive bodies of entities within the fuel and energy complex.
The Ukrainian government has appointed a new supervisory board for Naftogaz, featuring international experts to enhance governance in the energy sector. This move aligns with broader efforts to reform state-owned enterprises ahead of the expiration of the previous board's term.
