Sweden Affirms Unrestricted Military Support for Ukraine’s Territorial Integrity

Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson has confirmed the country’s commitment to assist Ukraine in reclaiming Crimea without imposing geographical restrictions on military aid.

According to reports from RBC-Ukraine, Jonsson made this statement while discussing the delivery of Tridon Mk2 systems to Ukraine, as noted by the publication Rzeczpospolita.

During a press conference on February 23, 2026, he reiterated Sweden’s support for Ukraine’s efforts to restore its territorial integrity, which includes funding for long-range missiles amounting to €524 million.

When asked by journalists whether Ukraine could use these long-range systems to target facilities in occupied Crimea, Jonsson responded,

“Sweden does not impose geographical restrictions on the use of provided assistance to protect Ukraine’s sovereignty. If Ukraine decides to reclaim Crimea, it is its legitimate right, and we will support that right with necessary means.”

This stance indicates Sweden’s readiness to provide Ukraine with the tools necessary for defense and the restoration of its territorial integrity, leaving the decision on specific actions to Kyiv.

The decision reflects Stockholm’s policy of enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities and supporting its right to sovereignty over all occupied territories.

Sweden's Defense Minister has confirmed that the country will provide military assistance to Ukraine without geographical limitations, supporting its right to reclaim Crimea. This marks a significant commitment to Ukraine's territorial integrity amidst ongoing conflict.
