According to local authorities, the assault caused fluctuations in voltage across various districts of the city. One individual sustained injuries during the attack and is reported to be in critical condition, with medical personnel dispatched to the scene.
In addition to residential disruptions, approximately 2,000 business subscribers also lost power. Efforts are underway to switch essential facilities to backup power sources to ensure continued operation.
As of 8:32 AM, power has been restored to more than 83% of affected customers, although 6,265 residential and 305 business consumers remain without electricity.
This incident follows a night of intense drone strikes on March 19, where Russian forces launched 133 attack drones from multiple directions. Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted 109 of these drones, although 20 managed to hit 11 locations, with debris falling in seven areas.
Odessa was notably targeted during these drone attacks, leading to damage to over a dozen buildings, including a university dormitory, and resulting in injuries to three individuals.
