Russian military forces have launched another targeted attack on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, this time striking an energy facility in the Chernihiv region.
According to official reports from Chernihivoblenergo, the attack has left approximately 150,000 consumers without electricity. The energy object in question sustained significant damage, leading to an immediate power shortage in the area.
“As a result of the hostile attack, an energy facility in the Chernihiv region was damaged, cutting off power to around 150,000 subscribers in the city of Chernihiv and its surroundings,” the statement read.
The impact of the attack has created a substantial deficit in the power grid. Emergency teams have been mobilized to address the situation, but restoration efforts will depend heavily on the prevailing security conditions.
“Energy workers will commence emergency recovery operations as soon as the security situation allows!” emphasized Chernihivoblenergo.
Residents in the region are advised to remain calm, charge their power banks, and stay updated on potential temporary reconnection schedules through official channels.
Notably, an air raid alert was in effect in the Chernihiv region from around 4:00 AM to 5:40 AM, during which the area faced threats from Russian army drones, as warned by the Air Forces.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of attacks aimed at plunging Chernihiv into darkness. The region, which borders the aggressor nation, frequently experiences such assaults designed to disrupt civilian life and destabilize Ukraine’s energy system.
