Russian Forces Launch Multiple Attacks in Dnipropetrovsk Region, Resulting in Casualties

Overnight, Russian military forces executed more than ten attacks in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine, leading to the death of a child and injuries to several others, as reported by the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Hanzha.

In the Pokrovsk community of the Synelnykove district, an 11-year-old boy lost his life. A 31-year-old woman, a 61-year-old woman, and a 33-year-old man were hospitalized with moderate injuries.

The Pavlohrad district also faced assaults, particularly in the cities of Pavlohrad and the Bohdanivka community, where a fire broke out, damaging administrative buildings and power lines. Two men, aged 52 and 66, sustained injuries in this area.

Additionally, infrastructure in Apostolove, located in Kryvorizhzhia, was reported damaged due to the attacks. Local authorities indicated that a total of ten individuals were injured across Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in the previous day, including two children: a 1.5-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy.

Russian forces have been consistently targeting Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure using a variety of weapons, including drones, missiles, and multiple rocket launchers. These actions have been classified by Ukrainian authorities and international organizations as war crimes, emphasizing their deliberate nature.

Attacks on essential services and healthcare facilities are seen as attempts to deprive civilians of electricity, heating, water, communication, and medical assistance, raising concerns about potential genocidal actions. Legal experts and human rights advocates assert that the ongoing war has led to various crimes against Ukrainian citizens that may fit the definition of genocide.

Since the onset of the full-scale war, Russian officials have made statements suggesting the eradication of Ukrainians as an ethnic group, further intensifying fears of targeted violence. The UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, adopted in 1948, obligates signatory countries to prevent and punish acts of genocide during both wartime and peacetime.

According to the convention, genocide includes actions aimed at the complete or partial destruction of a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group. Indicators of genocide encompass the killing of group members, causing serious bodily or mental harm, and the deliberate infliction of conditions intended to destroy a group.

The Russian leadership has consistently denied allegations that its military targets civilian infrastructure or causes civilian casualties during the ongoing conflict.

Recent attacks by Russian forces in the Dnipropetrovsk region resulted in one child's death and multiple injuries among civilians. Local authorities report extensive damage to infrastructure and ongoing concerns about targeted assaults on essential services.
