In a nighttime offensive on February 13, Russian military forces targeted the energy infrastructure in Odesa, Ukraine, causing severe damage, according to local authorities.
The destruction has been described as significant, with reports indicating that the devastating impact will require a lengthy repair process to restore the equipment to operational status. A spokesperson from DTEK stated, “We are currently on-site clearing rubble and will do everything possible to mitigate the consequences of the attack promptly. Our top priority is to restore electricity to critical infrastructure facilities.”
This latest assault is part of a broader attack on Ukraine, during which Russian troops deployed ballistic missiles and 154 strike drones. Ukrainian air defense managed to intercept many of these threats; however, some still struck the target.
According to reports, one missile and 22 drones hit 18 different locations, while debris from intercepted threats fell in two additional areas. Among the targeted sites was the port in Odesa, where the attack resulted in one fatality and injured six others.
Russian strikes aimed at various infrastructures across Odesa, including ports, residential areas, and industrial sites. In the port, warehouses filled with fertilizers were damaged, leading to fires that engulfed four cars and freight wagons.
